When should I transplant perennials and more????
Permalink Closed

I want to move some of my hostas, iris plants and lillie around and I am wondering when is the best time?  I know fall but could I just do it now?

Also,  I want to put some low maintenance plants like hostas on the side of the house near the driveway, it  is very moist and shady there ...what do you suggest?

Thanks!!

I'm already transplanting some periennials. Now is fine or later is too. Spring they are just sprouting and easier to handle so take your pick. Just water good after transplanting. They are hardy and usually do well after transplanted. I prefer to do it now instead of spring since you don't know where other plants may start coming up late.

Thanks!  I think I will do it soon.  Also, what perrenial type plant/bushes do you suggest for the side of my driveway near the hose.  It is shady and moist there and I want low maintenance over there since my rosebushes are over there too.  When they are trimmed we don't always get the scraps and it gets risky weeding over there so I would like to have some low maintenace type perennials there to fill in.
Thanks!

Ok, so I moved some hostas over to the side by the garage...I also moved one of my bushes (with the green and white trim) over there too.  I put some of the hostas on the side of the garage.  I put the iris in front of the porch and the  lilis are in th small section, I still have some things I need to move but I need more room.  I also want to put some thing over near the electrical boxes but I want to make sure I don't dig where the lines are buried so I will have to wait for that.  I think irises like sun, also lilies do too...I might put some of those out there...I just wanted to unclutter...it was soooooo cluttered looking.  We'll see what happens.  I have to finish today...wink

ALLLLLL DONE!!!!!!   I planted and replanted my buns off last weekend...but it is allllllll done!!  Next spring, I want to get a burning bush, some bayberry (I think that's what they are) bushes, another one that looks like a maroonish/burgundy color with angular leaves, kind of like a mini tree.  I also want to plant a weeping willow....maybe a mini.   awwawwawwawwaww

I will find out what Aunt Sherry's trees are that are weepy.  They are mini and very pretty.  Chinese something or other.  I think it would look very nice at your place.  I will check with her on that.  This would be perfect.
